Let’s get to the root of your anxiety.

Somatic Psychotherapy

That invites your mind, body, and emotions into the conversation.

Imagine this.

A woman with closed eyes is practicing somatic awareness outdoors, seated cross-legged on a striped towel with greenery and trees behind her.

You arrive to your session and a diffuser is releasing a grounding scent into the air.

You choose where you want to sit. On a couch, on a floor pillow, or on a yoga mat.

We begin the session by checking in with your nervous system. I guide you through a body scan and some gentle breath work to assess what is present as you settle-in.

This often informs what we begin talking about. Sometimes we think we need to talk about one thing, but once we check-in with the body— something else comes forward.

Our session then becomes a blend of talking/processing and moving your body. When emotions arise, we’ll slow down enough to notice and work with the experience at the body-level rather than trying to make sense of it.

Movement can look like—

  • standing and shaking your hands out like they are wet.

  • reaching up to the ceiling and then forward folding over your legs and breathing.

  • closing your eyes and swaying to shut out the world and be present with your own inner experience

  • audible breaths, like huffs or sighs to send a signal to your system that you’re cleansing.

  • tapping along your acupressure points or engaging in some bi-lateral stimulation tapping (I will explain what this means).

It might be as simple as rolling your shoulders up to your ears and back down and unclenching your jaw to remind your body that you don’t need to brace, you are safe.

It is my job to track what I am witnessing in your body, your voice, and your energy throughout the session so I can guide you to options that will help you integrate whatever is coming forward.

The longer we work together, the more you’ll learn your own cues and how to do exactly what you need without my guidance. That is where the real change and beauty happens.

Together we will find you again. The you that has been living underneath the weight of anxiety.

Come back to yourself.

So that you can thrive.
