<image:title>HOME - A modern & holistic approach</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi, I’m Alissa—Licensed Therapist & Owner of Root Wellness, LLC I’ve built my practice on the belief that when we consistently repress our emotions, stressors, and challenging experiences instead of releasing them— we wind up developing mental (and often physical) health symptoms. And yet, many of us were never taught how to move toward what is hard/uncomfortable/dysregulating so that we can healthily let it go. Instead, we were shown how to run away from it, repress it, power through it, and/or ignore it. My style is to dig down to the roots of your stress & anxiety and to meet you there as a compassionate and deeply attuned presence. To help you recognize what you’ve been holding onto so that we can work together to release it. I believe it is only when you uncover and tend to those roots that you can become the healthiest, most grounded version of yourself.</image:caption>

<image:title>ABOUT - THERAPIST, EDUCATOR, FACILITATOR</image:title>
<image:caption>Alissa Vreeland, LPC Founder & Owner It became apparent to me in my own therapeutic journey as a client that treating stress & anxiety can not be a ‘brain’ or ‘mind’ only approach. I found that when I simply tried to ‘talk myself out of’ feelings of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.. I often wound up feeling worse. The truth is, we store so much of our lived experiences in our bodies, including in our nervous systems. Once I began researching and educating myself about the science of stress and anxiety.. it provided me a perfect bridge to combine my training as a psychotherapist with my additional training as a yoga and mindfulness instructor. Whether I am in the role of therapist or educator/speaker— my style doesn’t change. I’ve been told that I am relatable, approachable, calming, and empowering. These professional traits are core to who I am as a person and I bring them into each element of my work. I am a licensed psychotherapist in the state of PA (PC013788) with a graduate degree in mental health counseling and additional training in yoga, mindfulness, meditation, somatic-based work, and trauma-informed care. My style is to be grounded, embodied, and highly present during therapeutic sessions and in workshops because I think the greatest thing so many of us are lacking is feeling truly seen, heard, and validated by another. I believe that the relationship is the most healing part of therapeutic work and it is what I value most as a clinician and educator. <image:title>Psychotherapy - Welcome.</image:title>
<image:caption>Finding a new therapist can be exhausting. I’ve been there. Let me start by saying that I’ve found I work best with individuals who are struggling with the daily heaviness of stress & anxiety. Here’s something I want you to know… underneath that heaviness there is a calmer, more light-hearted, more grounded, and more self-assured person— we just have to dig a little to find you under all the stuff that is weighing you down. What is it that’s weighing you down? In my experience, it is often unprocessed experiences and feelings. These things take up space in both our minds AND our bodies— dysregulating us and impeding our ability to handle any new stressors as they arise. Our work, together, will be to help you notice, name, and begin letting go of the heaviness that’s been plaguing you. To get back to your roots. Your core self. So that you can thrive. <image:title>Speaking Engagements - “I have presented alongside Alissa, and can attest to her ability to easily engage an audience as well as adapt to their needs. She is well-spoken and approachable, and takes the time to connect with the attendees and ensure they understand the concepts and material. When Alissa presents, she doesn’t just spout information -- it feels more like a conversation with a compassionate friend. Alissa is extremely knowledgeable and her passion for the subject matter is evident.”</image:title>

<image:title>Speaking Engagements - Rooted & Regulated</image:title>
<image:caption>In this 90-minute signature program, I walk attendees through my unique approach to releasing the burdensome quality of stress and overwhelm so that it becomes a pathway for insight and growth instead. The workshop is interactive throughout: combining lecture, small group discussion, and whole-group discussion. We will explore the science of stress, the nuances of trauma, and the empowering strategy that attendees can utilize during any day-to-day stressor to rewire their thinking, regulate their nervous systems, build resilience, and fundamentally heal their relationship with stress.</image:caption>

In her programs, Alissa created an environment where students could be open about their struggles and barriers to success, and she guided them toward evidence-based practices to meet their needs.
